Closing arguments to begin in Jackson doc trial
y ANTHONY McCARTNEY - AP Entertainment Writer | AP – 8 hours agoLOS ANGELES (AP) — Closing arguments are set to begin Thursday in the involuntary manslaughter case against Michael Jackson's personal physician.
The jury of seven men and five women will hear from prosecutors and defense attorneys who will summarize their respective cases after 22 days of testimony.
Prosecutors will try to show that Dr. Conrad Murray was criminally negligent by giving the singer the sedative as a sleep aid without the proper medical equipment. They contend the Houston-based cardiologist administered the fatal dose but have also elicited testimony that the doctor was distracted and left Jackson's bedside on the morning of the singer's death.
Defense attorneys will try to convince jurors that Murray didn't administer the fatal dose and that Jackson is to blame for his own death.
Murray has pleaded not guilty.
