All shook up: Elvis Presley's crypt safe from auction

Elvis Presley's Crypt in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis was not sold at auction, thanks to protests from fans.

* Website ElvisMatters.com claims a win for fans

THE crypt in which Elvis Presley was first buried has been withdrawn from a huge auction of sports and music memorabilia in Los Angeles following virulent protests from the King's fans.

The crypt - in which Presley was buried in 1997 before being moved to his final resting place at his Graceland mansion in Memphis - was to be one of nearly 1000 items belonging to sports and music icons on offer at the weekend.

But Julien's Auctions said it had put a stop to the crypt sale until the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis "finds a plan that best suits the interests of the fans while respecting and preserving the memory of Elvis Presley".

"YES WE DID IT!!" read the website ElvisMatters.com, which organised the effort to halt the sale. "We have just proven that fans can stand united!

"With the effort of ElvisMatters, the help of fan clubs all over the world and the support of over 10,000 fans who signed our petition, the crypt will remain empty - as it should!"

Since Presley's remains were moved to Graceland, the crypt has remained vacant.

Fans were able to snap up dozens of other items belonging to the King at the two-day auction ending on Sunday, including his personal telephone, sold for $20,480, and a 14-carat gold necklace with the initials "EP", sold for $31,250.

The orange-trimmed robe worn by soul singer Amy Winehouse - who died last year at age 27 - in her 2006 breakout video Rehab sold for $34,375. A black and pink negligee worn by Madonna on her 1990 tour earned the same amount.

A black and white silk ensemble worn by Lady Gaga sold for $28,125, while a pair of Michael Jackson's tap shoes went for $5760.

Other items belonging to the late Frank Sinatra and Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, as well as Rolling Stones and Doors memorabilia, also went under the hammer.

On the sports side, a pair of signed Air Jordan XI Concord sneakers worn by the basketball legend Michael Jordan during the 1995-96 NBA season sold for $10,240.

New York Yankees great Mickey Mantle's rookie season baseball card sold for $6875, while a dollar bill signed by Babe Ruth went for $3437.50.

Multiple items signed by boxing legend Muhammad Ali earned thousands of dollars.

Michael Jackson remembered on third anniversary

MICHAEL Jackson, who died three years ago today, will be remembered in a series of concerts this week as Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon Jackson continue their return to the stage as The Jacksons.

Jackson, dubbed The King Of Pop, is recognised as the most successful pop singer in the history of music and he died on June 25, 2009, of propofol intoxication after suffering a respiratory arrest at his home on North Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills neighbourhood in Los Angeles.

Jermaine said the brothers have wanted to reunite on their own for years, but after Michael's passing, they needed time to heal - and the tour is another step. They will play in The Fox Theatre Detroit today and the New York Apollo later this week.

Jermaine said the group plans to pay tribute to Michael during their shows with a medley that will conclude with the tune "Gone Too Soon."

When they sang with brother Michael they were simply known as the Jackson 5.

"The brothers don't know this, but I've broken down several times and cried during rehearsals," said Jermaine during a recent rehearsal break on a soundstage in Burbank, California. "I'm so used to Michael being on the right and then Marlon, Jackie, on and on. It's just something we never get used to."

Marlon said: "For me, this cycle that comes around every year — this day, that day — that doesn't affect me because it affects me every day. When that day comes around, it's the same. You learn to live with it. I still wake up sometimes and go, 'Jeez. I can't believe my brother's not here.'"

The Jacksons' tour is scheduled to end July 29 at the Snoqualmie Casino Amphitheater in Snoqualmie, Washington.

Meanwhile, on 3rd July a collection of Jackson's costumes and memorabilia will go on sale at Bonhams entertainment memorabilia auction in London. One of his black Savile Row jackets is valued at up to £12,000 and another jacket, a red, single-breasted outfit with black/gold and diamante buttons and a blue arm band, is also expected to raise £12,000.

MICHAEL Jackson is haunting the mansion where he died.

Neighbours say they have seen the King Of Pop strolling around his old LA home like a scene from his Thriller video.

And they have heard his music and singing during the night.

One of the star’s Beverly Hills neighbours said: “Everyone thinks that Michael’s ghost walks around the house.

“It has freaked everyone out. When he was living there, Michael would regularly look through the curtains and see who was around. People have heard his music coming from the house and even singing. It is so weird. The world knew that Michael was obsessed by the afterlife, from his songs like Thriller.

“He believed in spirits – now his own has returned.”

Jacko lived at the mansion with his children Prince, now 15, Paris, 14, and Blanket, 10.

He died three years ago at the hands of his doctor Conrad Murray, 59, who was jailed for four years last November.

The star, while preparing for a comeback tour, suffered a cardiac arrest after he was given sleeping pills, painkillers and then injected with an overdose of anesthesia drug Propofol.

It's the Conrad Murray video you were never meant to see -- a secret, emotional recording made days after Michael Jackson died ... in which Murray lies through his teeth about his relationship with the singer, blasts the public for blaming him for MJ's death, and even says he's a victim of M.J.'s deceptions.

The video -- which was never released -- was shot the very same day Murray recorded the infamous "Do not worry" clip he released in August 2009 ... his first address to the public after investigators named him as a suspect.

In this clip, Murray appears much more emotional -- with tears in his eyes, ranging from sadness to anger -- saying, "I can find no words satisfactory to summarize my affection for Michael."

He then proceeds to tell a bald-faced lie -- saying, "Despite our relationships and conversations, I am now made aware through recent media reporting that he failed to share with me any problems involving his alleged addictions with medications."

It later came out during his manslaughter trial ... Murray was intimately familiar with MJ's drug addictions -- and claimed to use drugs as a means to ween Michael off Propofol.

Later in the video, Murray gets aggressive -- saying, "No man, no woman, with the exception of innocent child, is absolutely free of hidden skeletons."

He continues, "Therefore, next time you look in the mirror, before passing judgment or condemning someone, take a good look at yourself, and if you're not 100% sure that when scrutinized no faults can be found, then you may have earned that right to criticize."

Sources close to Murray tell TMZ, Conny's lawyers eventually decided to bury the video because they felt it could only hurt him.

You gotta hear Murray's tone and anger in the video.

Es drängt ich mir immer stärker der Verdacht auf, das die Brüder von Michael Jackson echt Geld brauchen.
Erst diese unsägliche Tour mit ihrem toten Bruder auf einer Videoleinwand, der Backround singen und tanzen soll (LooMee berichtete) und nun ein Buch! Jermaine Jackson schrieb gerade ein Buch, das bald veröffentlicht wird und lies die "Bild" schon mal wissen: "Michael hat viele Geheimnisse mit ins Grab genommen.
Aber ein paar andere möchte ich mit der Welt teilen." Schön, was der Jermaine so über seinen Bruder zu erzählen hat. "Früher passten zwei Schäferhunde und ein Dobermann auf uns auf. Ein Hund wurde Hitler getauft" oder "Michael sammelte Furzkissen. Und er zündete gerne Stinkbomben in Fahrstühlen."

Was soll uns das denn nun sagen?
Michael Jackson war ein kindlicher Furzkissensammler mit einem Hang zu rechtsradikalen Hunden? Warum muss man aus seinem Tod noch den letzten Rest Würde pressen und ihn so vorführen? Der Mann ist seid 3 Jahren tot und seine eigene Familie lässt ihn nicht zur Ruhe kommen.
Was hat es uns zu interessieren, ob Michael Gespräche mit Promis heimlich aufzeichnete oder ob er was mit Madonna hatte? Sein Tod war tragisch und völlig unnötig. Das hat schon mehr als genug Schlagzeilen und Geld gebracht. Nun ist es doch langsam genug

mich nur noch an .....aber es ist immer so und wird sich auch nicht ändern ..........Geld regiert die Welt.Doof finde ich auch das es gerade mal Arte und Super RTL schaffen zum heutigen Tag (oder gestern) etwas von MJ zu senden

da stimme ich dir zu ... :D ... bei den ganzen Auktionen kann man ja sehen, dass nicht nur MJ dort mit "Krempel" vertreten ist ... Elvis z. B. ist seit dem 16. August 1977 verstorben ... aber für alles gilt, Angebot und Nachfrage sind entscheidend ... und man staunt doch immer wieder über die erzielten hohen Verkaufspreise ...

ja, Arte und Super RTL senden bzw. haben zum Gedenken von MJ gesendet ... einige Sendungen werden sogar wiederholt ... man kann es doch positiv sehen und sich freuen, dass wenigsten zwei Sender etwas von MJ bringen ... und Arte sogar über 11 Stunden ...

Immortal World Tour- Die Dokumentation fand ich so was von Klasse ....da wurde liebevoll gesprochen ...... und bei einigen blieb auch oft die Stimme weg ...... zu tief sitzt da immer noch der Schock von MJ`s versterben ... :( :(

Wiederholungen bei Arte ... auf entsprechende Zeiten gehen ... ob ein Video vorhanden ist, wird mit Symbol angezeigt ...

habe mir auch angetan ... bis um 1:20 ... aber den Film "Miss Cast Away and The Island Girls" muß man nicht gesehen haben bei der Doku "Eine Karriere zwischen weiß und schwarz" fand ich manches zwar gut, aber auf einige Themen ist man nicht ausreichend eingegangen bzw. hat sie auch noch "verzerrt" dargestellt ...

und die Sendung "Abgedreht" habe ich mehr als Satire gesehen ...

ja, eine seiner vielen Lügen ... Murrays Anwälte wußten schon, warum sie speziell diese Aufzeichnung unter Verschluß hielten ... :D

und nun hat TMZ wohl ein Kopie davon erhalten
